I wore my Black Watch SWK, button up Polo and as close to matching hose to tie everything together. It was a pleasant evening so only a Glengarry was needed for warmth, but that is changing fast and soon sweaters and jackets will be in order to keep the cold at bay.

I the first picture you can see an orb near my left shoulder. My cousin swears that there are spirits, I appease her but I thin most of the time they are dust specks.



Here I am warming the legs by the fire.



Some interesting reading about orbs, I was bored so I thought I’d read up on the subject.

Orbs are believed (by many) to be ghosts in the form of balls of light. They are life forms that travel in groups and are believed to be the human soul or life force of those that once inhabited a physical body here on earth. Psychics claim to talk to them on a regular basis, and ghost hunters encounter them quite frequently. It is said that they are those spirits that have willingly stayed behind because they feel bound to their previous life or previous location for whatever reason. Because of this obsession they tend to become similar to a psychotic human beings. It should be said that the majority of us when we die proceed gladly and willingly to the next level of existence after saying our quiet good-byes, which means we're off to the spirit world. Then again, as stated, a select few elect to stay behind because of a refusal to move on. Apparently the longer they stay behind, the harder it is to find their way to the next level, which again, is the spirit world.


Ghostly orbs are the most photographed anomalies caught on film by ghost hunters and are quite photogenic (when they want to be). They can be completely transparent or display themselves in a bright solid form. It is not hard to capture them on film in their circular form. It is theorized that ghosts prefer the form of an Orb (ball of light) because it takes less energy thus being the mode of choice among the ghosts. The consensus is that small orbs take up the least amount of energy and apparitions and other fuller shapes take up the most. In the colder parts of the year, it seems that ghosts tend to find it easier to take on shapes other than orbs. That's when there is the most static electricity in the atmosphere. Those months being October through February. It is also believed that they are able to draw on our own energy when needed. I've listed these ways but there are obviously many ways for ghosts to draw energy from the atmosphere and environment but I won't take the time for that here.

What percentage of orb photos are false?
As you might know there is a controversy concerning orbs in regards to authenticity. Although a lot of them are believed to be authentic, there are still many showing up as a result of airborne particles (dust) at the time of the flash. This happens in both indoor & outdoor shots. Because of this, it's making it really hard to disassociate the false positive orbs from the real ones. An example of airborne particles would be like opening a heavy curtain inside of a dark room to let in the light. Have you ever done that and seen all the dust in the beam of the light? Well dust can show up in pictures as orbs, especially when dust is close to the lens, and most especially with digital cameras. That's just one example, moisture (humidity), mold, & pollen are also contributors of false positive orb photos. Because of this, there is no real way to confirm authenticity with our present knowledge, therefore the consensus would have to be that most orb photos are false positives. Perhaps as many as 50-90 percent of orb photos are nothing more than the conditions at the time of the flash.

What should I look for in an orb photo?
As mentioned above there is no official way to determine authenticity of an orb within a photo but here are a few key elements to keep in mine. 1. A bright orb is more likely to be real than a faded one. 2. Multiple orbs in a single photo are most likely dust motes. 3. Orbs that are bright and show a vibrating effect within the photo are likely to be real. 4. A slight trail is also something to look for in determining true orbs.

Well, you look nicely put together, but I'm afraid your orb is nothing but lens flare coming from the reflection of the flash off the Lance Armstrong print.

I wouldn't worry about the orb as much as the fact that you have red eyes....before you went out! : )

orbs are tricky things, I've seen some that are dust, and I've seen a few (very few) that occur without a flash. (I used to develop film at Walgreens, I've seen a fair share that way, even in daytime outdoor shots)

For odd things in film, look up the skyfish / Roswell rods .
