Laura's 21st birthday party
Hi guys. Laura (my girlfriend, who some of you have met) had a small-ish birthday party in her house on Saturday to celebrate her 21st birthday. I decided to go kilted in my brand new black shadow tartan kilt, made by Slanj and new brown contemporary sporran by Sporran Nation.
T'was a great day and I had many compliments on the kilt. I was going for a normal / try-not-to-look-overly-Scottish / contemporary look!
By the end of the night I'd had cider, beer, whisky, brandy, vodka, peach schnapps, bicardi and probably some other stuff... so I did plenty of dancing in the living room when the Scottish music came on! It's on video and I'll try and get it on youtube asap. Meanwhile here are some pictures.
Here's me and the birthday girl:

Laura blowing out her candle:
(there are 296 Maltesers on her cake!)

I had to jump in the picture (and get grass on my kilt!), but sadly my kilt never squeezed into the shot!:

Me & Laura's cousin Claire:

Me & Jan - from the Czech Republic (who Scotland played their last football game against. We won 1 - 0... and dont worry - I didn't forget to raise this in conversation!)

Being a little bit drunk I jump behind Laura's brother Ryan and pull a cheeser :
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

The look you were going for worked out great and your compliments were well deserved. It's great to see examples of other young guys wearing kilts in a contemporary style and looking smart doing it!

Guid oan ya Paul.
The new kilt suits you really well.
Congratulations to Laura on her twenty first.
I notice the strong family resemblance between Laura and her cousin Claire.

A kilt makes a party. Looks like a fun time with a lovely lass. But, dang, my liver hurts for you... Glad you survived.

"Awright, lads...try not to look overly Scottish..."
I think you may have a t-shirt slogan there.
Looks like a pleasant time was had by all. I am a total sucker for those malted milk balls so the cake looks especially great.
Best
