Livermore Games - 2008
Sunday was hot - approaching 90 degrees F. Many of the NorCal Rabble were off doing other things but several gathered to see Alan H compete in the heavy events.
The decorations on the side of the van told us the Tinkers had already arrived.

Still the best invention ever! The walls detach allowing the light breezes passage to the inside.

Livermore is known for its wines - thus the grapes in the design.

The new little camera used to video Alan in the events. ( www.theflip.com ) It fits in a sporran. See Alan's UNBELIEVABLE day here: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/u...329/index.html

Having so many games in Northern California means an opportunity to visit each of the various attractions in turn. This time it was the historical area for me.

A strange, curious structure on wheels!

It's a traveling blacksmith show. ( www.poundiron.com ). Michel hammers iron while his wife Christy enchants with her storytelling. He banged out six fancy twisted S-hooks while she told us the legend of Wicked John an' th' Deil. After the show, the forgings were all given away to the wee ones in the audience.

Knowing some kilted smithies would be interested in his over-apron, Michel posed for a close-up.

It's a clever merging of chain mail and metal fishing lures.

This charming lass was sporting the Irish National.

Aye, but show us your pleats!

After a long day in the sun, it was time to enjoy the show.

When Wicked Tinkers, Tempest, and Molly's Revenge take to the stage together it's a raucous good time.
Wore scroonchy socks the day. Now my calves are sunburned!

Great pics! The Clever Little Monkey and I were there on Saturday, but the heat drove us away by about 2:30 when it was in the upper 90s. We made out retreat to an air conditioned movie theater.
Best regards,
Jake

It was a fun day. Took co-workers that had never been to a Scottish games before. They had a good time. I was there in my USA kilts US Army tartan semi-trad. Stayed most of the day (well, until after Wicked Tinkers last set, anyway).
Can't wait for Monterey and Pleasanton!

Looks like a great day. The Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess and I were off enjoying the heat, dirt, and bugs at Big Basin State Park. Looking forward to Campbell, Monterey, and Pleasanton.
EBlackall, you need to make sure to meet up with the rest of the Nor Cal Rabble at the next games.
Cheers
