Loud MacLeod gathering... well, sort of

That's me looking smug in that dashing jacket, though somehow my face got a little distorted. Honorary MacLeod for the pic at least... my kilt was at the cleaners at the time... or we'd have had a bit more green to balance the image out.
Friend's birthday a few weeks ago.. this took place after we had our fill of bread and wine and began to tell tales of other times we had our fill of bread and wine. Blame that also on why his kilt is riding so low...
Turns out that's the family heirloom jacket, and I must say, it's a pretty awesome thing to pass down the generations, especially when each one is as proud a MacLeod as the one before.

Being of the MacLeod Clan myself, yes that is a hell of an 'heirloom'.
Happy birthday to your friend.

I love the MacLeod of Lewis tartan - always have been quite fond/envious of its bright colour scheme and simplistic, attractive sett. Looks good!
Cheers,

I prefer the 'jacket' yellow to the 'kilt' yellow, more mellow and pleasing on the eye. But it seems that the 'kilt' yellow has become more popular these days.

I was thinking the same thing whilst typing my previous post, Chas. I too prefer the jacket colour over the kilt colour - as you mentioned more mellow - and it is also much more subdued, appearing to be a rich mustard-like (not lemon-like) colour. Great point!

Part of that is the Kilt is still pretty new... only a year old I believe. That dashing jacket, however, is older than both of us in the picture combined (I'm 29).
But I agree with what you're saying. The louder yellow is pretty prevalent these days. A softer yellow has more of a natural look. But, when the theme of a particular tartan is to be loud and proud, it's only going to get louder and prouder over the years.

Awesome! I'll bet the Kilt and Jacket look awesomer together... on the same Bloke. Awsomist with a Loud MacLeod Glengarry!
Or one of these...

... And yellow socks.

And a pair of these
Or do you think it would be a bit too matchy?
Loud MacLeod is a wonderful tartan. You wear it well (hehehehe!)

The jacket is great, but the kilt isn't so much. The problem being that it's not MacLeod of Lewis. To be Macleod of Lewis, the three bands of black are supposed to be of the same width, not a wide one in the middle and narrow on each side. Now and then I see this tartan labelled as MacLeod of Lewis, or Dress MacLeod. I'm not sure if it's an actual tartan or just a mistake.
Thought you ought to know.

I can do one better on the shoes. I have a pair of yellow ones, with a bit of black thrown in, which you just might recognize from a certain Bruce Lee movie.

It's too bad that jacket is too small for me. I might ask them to wear it more often. Next time we have a kilted outing, I'll request he wear it.
