MacLaren Scouters
EagleMo and I were able to get together on the closing day of the Fall Wood Badge course recently. EagleMo moved to Jacksonville, FL from Baltimore about the same time I moved from Jacksonville to Maryland. We have common acquaintences in both councils!

It's interesting to me how you refer to yourselves as "MacLaren Scouters"
Over here we wear the same neckerchief with the MacLaren patch on it once the wood badge is awarded but there is no conception of wearing a MacLaren kilt. Some scout groups will adopt a tartan and some may even use MacLaren, but most don't
Incidentally, I have been awarded the wood badge twice, once as a scout leader and the second time as a commissioner, but my scouting days ended a few years ago through disability. My late wife was also a wood badge holder

Looking great guys! I do wish scouting in the United States would make an allowance for wearing the kilt nation wide. I do understand the reasons for not allowing it in the rules but they really can't stop you either. After all you have to buy your own uniform! From a proud Eagle, keep up the good scouting!

That’s awesome Guys I was a scout in Jacksonville FL when I was a wee Lad. I don’t remember the unit number but I lived onboard NAS JAX. I am currently in between weekends of my Second tour on Staff. My goal for this course was to be Kilted. For the entire course. I’ll post some pics next week.

Well, I really wanted to say "Kilted Scouters" but I wasn't wearing my kilt, as I was a staffer for this course. Had to be in regulation uniform. But our Course Director did give us those nice scarves with our totems on them, so we all had them on (totem's exposed, of course). For the record, I used to be a Bobwhite.

Venture crews can choose their own Uniform. My crew recognizes the kilt as optional wear.

When I was at NAS Jax the troop was 131. We wore a silver 50 year bar back in '82-86. Likely that was the one.

Now you're talking a foreign language
Here, you're either a scout leader or you're not and any other terms are usually just local with perhaps the exception of the more usual "skip" for a scout leader and "akele" for a cub leader

I'm not up to date with current scouting rules but it always was the case in the UK that any scout (or cub etc etc) with a Scottish connection could wear a kilt and any Scout or leader in a Scottish troop could as well
The only problem over here is that full uniform is not enforced. Many leaders just wear a scout shirt and jeans and the scouts just follow their example
I love the US Scout hats as well. They went out here years ago
