Martina Meets a Piper on Lindisfarne

Martina and a Piper by cessna152towser, on Flickr
During a visit to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne earlier this week with my partner's daughter Martina who is visiting us from Germany for three weeks, Martina gets introduced to "dudelsackmusik".
Later in the day we saw the piper pedalling away on his bicycle still wearing his kilt.

In 635AD St. Aidan came from Iona and founded his monastery on Lindisfarne.

Sited atop the volcanic mound known as Beblowe Craig, Lindisfarne Castle is one of the most distinct and picturesque features of the Island and can be seen for many miles around.
Following the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry VIII, the Castle was built in the 1550's using stones from the demolished Priory. In 1901, Edward Hudson (founder of Country Life magazine) negotiated its purchase from the Crown and in 1902 Sir Edwin Lutyens (the well-known architect) began the conversion to create the Edwardian country house which you can still see today.

Thanks, I found it through google. I will have to add it to my trip list when and if I get to visit England. I am still working on seeing more of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
