Meadows Highland Games & Celtic Festival 2009 Pix
The Richmond Highland Games got a new location and new name this year. Which is for me only 35 miles from my home! So, here are the Day 1 pix.
Here I ham it up with Jim of the Donnachaidh Clan Society and Morris of the House of Gordon. Besides my own Clan, MacCallum Malcolm, I belong to both the Donnachaidhs and Gordons. Both of them are the party Clans here in Virginia, and I have a lot of party blood in my veins!

As you will see it was to be a rainy day and a windy one.

Bonnie Knees Contest
I was eliminated early from the competition, as the ladies told me it was the Bonnie Knees Contest not Boney!
Here are some pix of the other contestants.

Kinswoman!
There’s not many of us, so I was really pleased to have this MacCallum lass, Sharla to come calling. She was very happy to learn of our Clan history. She is planning to join us for Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk.

Drenching!
Sir William who was convening his Elliot tent next to mine gave me the storm warning that a front was approaching. We had enough time to get the tables cleared before the torrents came!

The bands massed and then the closing ceremonies were called off, much to the chagrin of some of the band members who had already become quite soaked.

Making the best of things
Jerry of the House Gordon embraced (literally)the muddy pathways and performed kilted belly mud slides.

Jerry’s Partners in slime

The rain didn’t bother this couple. Jim told them I would take their pix and an email it to them. I told them, I would be glad to take the pix, and in giving them my card with the XMarks URL told them to download it from here. Perhaps we’ll get a newbie!

Come back for tomorrow’s activities. Yes, MoR it will be a sunny day!

Aside from the downpour, it looks like a good time was had by all. Well, perhaps even with the downpour. Thanks for sharing!
