Mid Winter Pics of Loch Lomond and Loch Long
I was travelling up thru Loch Lomondside and Loch Long this week and took some pics, it was cold and damp with snow on the hills and bens although today we have a lot more snow and perhaps the pics would be prettier if taking today.
First pic is from Duck Bay looking across the loch to snow capped Ben Lomond

next pic is of the little statuette on the water at Aldochay cove about half a mile from Luss, legend has it that this is a memorial to a child drowned in the loch but in fact the statuette was found in a scrapyard in London by a stonemason in 1890 and he erected it upon the water on the loch, its locally known as 'wee Peter'

this one is of the island of Inchtavannach (Monks Island) a few hundred yards from the cove of Aldochay, the cove is one of the safest harbours on the loch. St. Kennog is said to have been killed on the island which was the site of an old monastery

in front of Monks Island is a crannog which is an ancient defensive man made island, its local name is Swan island

believe it or not this is one of the prettiest places to be in mid summer on a sunny day, the field where the Luss Games are held presided over by the Chief of the Calquohoun, one of the best little games in Scotland

Here is a pic of the front view of Luss Parish Church, you would think that its lit up by some artificial means but it not, this is the way it turned out on a dull day, could be used for a venue for Tam O' Shanter

Agreed. Absolutely, beautiful. I must make it there, before I die.
