Mourning Glencoe
Wore this to work on the anniversary of Glencoe to mourn the entire tragedy and sadness of it all. No political intent save wearing my Macdonald USA Kilts semi-trad with black to mourn for my clan's losses.

Also black leather Stilwater Nightstalker sporran, black Lewis kilt hose with black traditional garter ties.

Now who are to trying to get riled up here, the people on the thread who are debating all aspects of Glencoe or the "only wear black hose when mourning" people?
Great outfit. I like the black garter ties with the black hose!!

Ron,
Very nice kilt, wish I was back in Sierra Vista Arizona instead of cold and dreary Fort Riley Kansas.

Looking sharp. Any excuse does to wear the kilt.

A fine looking outfit, Ron, the black shirt and hose and black shoes go well with the MacDonald kilt. My own claim to MacDonald ancestry is rather tenuous. I had a great great grandfather William McLeod (1815-1875) whose death certificate names his parents as having been Daniel McLeod and Mary McDonald, but there are few if any written records of the Paisley weaver families prior to 1841, so I have not yet been able to verify the accuracy of the information in this death certificate (quite often the names given were wrong as the informant did not know the names of the deceased's parents). Old parish records show a William McLeod, son of John McLeod and Catherine McDonald born and baptised in Paisley in June 1815 but I cannot be certain this is the same William McLeod, and thereby confirm the McDonald link.

Aye Alex,
Genealogy is both frustrating and addictive...but less expensive than golf which also provides the same frustration and addiction.
One would easily guess that what you found is accurate since the MacLeods and Macdonalds were roaming the same turf. I'll claim you as a clan cousin.
