My band in Scotland
In 2007 the LA Scots took around 65 pipers and drummers to Scotland where we competed at North Berwick, Bridge of Allan, and Glasgow Green.
In the week leading up to the World Pipe Band Championships, as part of Piping Live!, we performed in George Square.

It was great! Glasgow is a fantastic place for a piper that week. Every day, Monday through Friday, there were two or three different noontime concerts, two or three afternoon concerts, and a like number of evening concerts. Venues included George Square, the College of Piping, and the National Piping Centre.
A funny thing about playing in George Square was the tourist coaches driving by and the American tourists saying "Oh look! There are some authentic Scotsmen!"
Every time a local asked me where I was from and I answered "Los Angeles" they would reply in a manner like "Why would you want to be HERE?!" as if Glasgow was a Third World city or something. They seemed dismayed, astonished, than a person from California would want to visit Glasgow (Maryhill no less!)
Here I am in front of Stirling Castle, the morning of the Bridge of Allan games, with the town in the valley below:
