    My Blue MacKay

Finally got my pic taken in the new Blue MacKay.

Here it is, with me resting against my living room mantle and my little Chloe filling in the foreground.

Of course, there's the everpresent pipe in my hand, and the oh so necessary cane.

At Rocky's suggestion I had the Blue MacKay pleated to the stripe. It's my first kilt pleated that way and I rather like it for this tartan. You can get a hint of the pleating from the side view but I'll have another better pic taken later to really show the back.

I'll have pics of my new Prince of Wales shortly.

Nice looking tartan. I do like the way that you wear the Kilt, and of course Chloe makes the whole picture fantastic!

Your kilt looks great and so does Chloe. Very nice. Who is the CPO pictured in the background?

    Glassman,

Looking good, mate. Great pic...I could actually see this photo being commisioned as a painting (minus the dog toy, of course).

I, too, sport the 'oh so necessary cane' and even smoke a pipe like yourself (see my posts at The Pub forum). I also have a shillelagh that I'm going to start carving knotwork into soon (I've got it sanded down to the bare wood so far); I plan on using it at my wedding in October (don't like the idea of ruining my kilted ensemble with a beat-up black aluminum cane). Naturally, it will take a long time to Dremel the knotwork (months) but when I'm finished doing that it's getting stained a deep, dark green. I'll have to add a good supportive rubber cane tip to top it all off. Anyway, again...great pic.

Great pic and kilt Phil! And the dog is a winner as well.

In the background is a picture of my late maternal grandfather Chief Petty Officer Steve Martinez. He retired after 30 years of service and saw action in WW II, Korea & Vietnam. He also raised me for a significant portion of my childhood until I was 11 years old. And even though he raised me as his own, and loved me dearly, I actually share no blood with him. He was my step-grandfather but you would never have known from how well he treated my mother and myself. He was a man of quiet dignity, and limitless love.

Your Grandfather and mine had a lot in common. Mine also was a step Grandfather who raised me and treated me as his own. He married my Grandmother the day before I was born and he was positive I was his by blood!! I had a lot of fun telling people my Grandparents got married the day before I was born.....raised a few eyebrows. Also like yours he was a gentleman with great character. He lives forever in me as I am sure yours does with you! Aren't we lucky?
