My first Highland Games comp
First time doing these, definately going to hit up a couple next summer. Im fortunate enough that there is about 5 competitions withing 2 hours driving time. Powerlifting is my main passion and while it is very rewarding and enjoyable to me this day was fun, which isn't quite an accurate description of powerlifting.

My favorite picture that doesn't involve my son.

The stone throw, 16 pounds.

One of the weight for distances, don't know if it is 56 or 42 pounds.

My son being more awesome than me.

The women's/amatuer caber, pictures make it look bigger than I remember.

56 pound weight over bar.

Yep, had a ton of fun. I will have to wait for the results to get posted but I think I could have placed 3rd out of 4th. It was a comp with all the proceeds going to a wounded Marine so they didn't bother with prizes.

Great job! At first I was thinking that was Loon Mountain because of the ski lift towers, but looks like it's Mount Mansfield. Powerlifting is a good prep for this stuff, but I'm sure you quickly figured out that a lot of it is about speed, too.
Next time, you might think about trying a pair of turf shoes...something like what you'd wear for soccer or football, instead of the boots. All in all, looks like a great day to me! Guid on ye, lad!
