    My first kilt

    Greetings all!

So its been some time now since I've wanted to buy a kilt and my girlfriend has convinced me to go for and get one. I wanted to buy a Utilikilt but according to the website they no longer make them in my size. So, I had to look around for an alternative. I have found what appears to be a good one through Alt.Kilt which as some of you may know is a custom kilt shop. I ordered it about a month ago and it is still being sewn as we speak. But a couple weeks ago we went to the Sonora Celtic Faire up here in Sonora California. I was happy to find that Utilikilt had a booth at the faire and went to check them out and low and behold they had a few kilts IN MY SIZE on a clearance rack. 33% off the ticket price. I tried on several and with wide eyed "come hither" look from my girlfriend I decided on a black Workman's UK.
The apron on it was a little dirty so he gave it to me for 50% off! WOW, $150 for a $300 kilt. Not too shabby indeed. I love it! OH THE FREEDOM!

I have already been shopping around for my next kilt purchase which I want to be a lil more on the traditional side and decided on USA Kilts w/ the Irish National tartan.

Below are some pics from our trip today to Calaveras Big Trees State Park.

Congratulations on a great deal. Kilt looks good. So you have one on the way,...and are looking at a USA Kilts Irish National tartan as a follow on. Welcome to the addiction.

BTW, that's a nice looking buckle.

The kilt looks great. As the owner of both a custom Alt.Kilt, and a Utilikilt, I predict you'll wear the Alt.Kilt more, but both are great kilts.
I wish I had something funny or profound to put in a signature.

Well with the Alt.Kilt I had originally ordered it in heavy weight cotton twill. Well when she was finishing it up she noticed that the fabric was flawed and shot me over an e-mail letting me know about it and offered to re-do it in the fabric I ordered (though it would take longer because she needed to re-order the fabric) or she could do it in the lighter weight cotton which according to her is like Dockers fabric. Well with summer fast approaching and living in California I opted for the lighter weight for daily wear and I can use my UK for hiking. So we'll see how it works out. *crosses fingers*

Once that one arrives I'll be adding more pics

    Cheers!
