My new kilts and new digital camera!
OK, not the best pictures, new digital camera. Yes, I finally broke away from the 35mm, but only for practical purpouses.
Here are my two SWK kilts. SWK Black Stewart Tartan Thrifty-Kilt and the SWK in Blackwatch. Just wanted to see what the group thinks about the fit and length. I think that the thrifty kilt rides a little too high above my waist, but the Blackwatch fits better and is about right. I am only 5' 8" and I think the kilt should end either at the middle or top of my knee.
Ant suggestions?

Looks like they are both a little long. Although you can put the kilt up higher to get the length right you will probably discover that the kilt will find where it wants to naturally be, which means as you move around it will slide down a bit.
I would put them at your proper kilt waist and the have them hemmed to the right length. You will be happier in the long run,.

Kilt length
That is what I thought, but since this is new to me, I thought I would ask before dashing off to the tailor. Oh, would there be any special instructions to give my tailor as to how to cut or hem the kilt?
Cheers

You don't need a tailor for this. Take it to the seamstress at a decent cleaners. Just tell them you want a blind hem, but any seamstress worth her salt will know that.

I'm 5'10" and I think SWKs are too long for me. After two tries, I doubt I'll ever buy another one. Hike that kilt any higher, and you've got an Empire waistline. Others have said they've had them hemmed with success. When I choose to wear my SWKs I usually make extra sure the belt is well-placed.

Don't have him/her cut it. Just hem it.

I'd just sit down and hand sew it myself and have. Real easy to do and there are several threads here that explain the steps.
