My new tartan in the area that inspired it.
Those that have seen some of my other posts are familiar with my new "Leaf Peeper" tartan. Inspired by the White Mountains of New Hampshire in October, I've started the week with a couple of kilted shots wearing that kilt. My priority today was Mt. Washington, where above the alpine there's no chance of color. But over the next few days I hope to give this, along with a couple other kilts, a good showing in some of the lovelier spots in the area (provided I can find someone there to take the pictures.) LOL
Though the weather looked promising at the base, by the time I got to the summit the clouds moved in and visibility was quite limited.

On the way back down (elev. approx. 5000') the clouds started to lift.

And then there's this one, back in North Conway.

In addition to the Leaf Peeper, I also brought my Buchanan Hunting, and my Buchanan Reproduction. I hope to have some other decent shots as the week progresses.

Lookin' good, Ken. Your outfit looks perfect for hiking and I bet you were comfortable. Looks like some pretty cool scenery in the background.

He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. The second shot above, shows the presidential range. It always reminds me a little of photos of Glencoe, a place I would very much like to see some day.
Through the remainder of the week I hope to get some nice shots along the Swift (always potential for some nice shots there!), along the train route to Crawford Notch, and perhaps, if I'm lucky, with a moose along route 302.

As always these pics make me very homesick. The pics of you on the summit beg the question, How did you get there, cog rail, auto road or (shudder) climb? Also loved the pic from Cathedral Ledge, always one of my favorite spots

Got to the summit via the auto road. Always such a pretty drive. Cathedral is always so convenient to get to, it's hard not to go there, and I love the view of the valley. I remember you telling me last year that you grew up in the Conway area.
The weather is really overcast today, with low cloud ceilings, so I don't see much chance of any good photography happening anywhere today. Even the train to Crawford Notch would likely be riding right through the low clouds. LOL I'll hope for better weather tomorrow, though the forecast doesn't look promising. Today may just be a good day to shop at LL Bean and some of the factory outlet stores. I stopped in at the new Tartan and Clan Center store. Locharron fabrics, a small selection of kilt accessories, and some nice coats. Nice shop, but not a huge selection, and very little in my size. Had a nice chat with the young lady minding the shop, however.
Now, I think I'm going to finish my coffee, then head up to the White Mountain Cider Co. (rt 302 in Bartlett), to pick up some Apple Cider Doughnuts.
