LOL...I saw that too. It was a hot day actually, those guys in jackets were uncomfortable to say the least. I couldn't find my 'proper' band shirt and had to wear a black fleece shirt that I use for cold weather days. Needless to say, I felt pity for those guys..lol.
The girls have been working on learning all 3 dances since January. They are very quick learners and do a fantastic job, considering they only practice once a week. I, on the other hand, hadn't played those dance tunes in 20 years...and had to be a "quick study" to get them down properly. I'm in the process of teaching 2 of our band members the tunes so that I can play "hooky" from an occasional gig or two...LOL

MacAngus is correct. The Band Tartan is a Registered Tartan for the City of Bethlehem. The Police/Fire/EMS Department members who choose to wear a Kilt during the annual Festival/on duty, are required to wear this Tartan as their "uniform" requirement.
The Band wears it because we are the Official Band to the City - and our Pipe Major, the Official Piper to the Mayor.
The Tartan Kilts can be purchased publicly through Donegal Square on Main Street in Bethlehem, PA - http://www.donegal.com/mysitecaddy/site3/ but I don't know their actual cost.
