    Napa North Tour

On Sept. 6, the lovely CAWFH and myself headed out with our neighbours Ruth and Bill to tour Okanagan wineries and enjoy the beautiful Similkameen valley.

The actual tour and tasting began on Friday under cloudy skies with the occasional shower.

I don't know what the deal is but almost all wineries have an old truck with barrels parked out front.

Here's Bill and I at the Little Straw winery.

Just down the road from Little Straw is the Mt. Boucherie winery.

They had a VERY good crop this year.

We next visited Thornhaven winery. Their patio was very busy and the crowd was greatly amused by my shirt!

Next up was the Dirty Laundry winery. Shelly and I at the entrance.

    More to follow.

We spent Friday night at the Vanilla Tree House B&B. A beautiful home in a very quiet, picturesque area.

I got into a little hot water while there.

    The view was spectacular!

We had dinner at Granny Bogner's, a somewhat sheeshee place but very good food. The building dates to 1905 and was the home and office of the first doctor in Penticton. Here's our rabble.

On Saturday, it's more touring and tasting.

This is a map of the area and all those little black dots are wineries, 88 in all!!

Saturday we stayed at the Crowsnest winery and B&B. A great little spot.

The owner and chef with yours truly.

    Just a few more.

We came home on the Crowsnest Hwy. (Hwy. 3). Somewhat like the Arizona area.

Some of you may be familiar with the problem we are having with the Mountain Pine beetle. In this pic all the trees that are red are dying from beetle damage. It's unfortunate but the colours are striking.

Well, that was our holiday. Thanks for taking the time to look through the pics and good day to you all.

    Very nice pics Mikey!

We vacationed in BC four or five years back. You pics have reminded me it's time to get back up there. Beautiful!

Thanks for the pics Mikey. I have been to almost all of those wineries in the past and I have always enjoyed the Okanagan wine tours.

I was in Kamloops last month and I could not believe the damage by the pine beetle out that way. It's incredible that they have caused so much harm.

Phabulous Photos, Mikey! Glad to see that you & Shelly had a great time. With all those wineries, good thing you took pictures so you could remember the trip.

Yep, those last couple of pics did look Arizona-like. Our forests have been devastated by pine beetles, too. The little buggers have taken advantage of the trees being weakened by our extended drought.

That FK Kilt Shirt looks really good. Did you get the cotton/hemp blend?

    Thanks for the photo tour!
