National Tartan Day Celebration in Norfolk, VA
This weekend, I went to my parental home to celebrate my Dad’s 81st birthday with him. I read in the Sunday newspaper this morning that the Tidewater Pipes and Drum Band was performing at the MacArthur Memorial in a Tartan Day Celebration in the afternoon. I convinced my sister and Dad to attend with me.
Some pre-program warm up.

General Douglas MacArthur is buried here in Norfolk. The Tidewater Pipes and Drum Band wear the kilt in ancient MacArthur tartan.

It was a great program with a history of Tartan Day, the Declaration of Arbroath, the contribution Scots and Americans of Scottish ancestry have had in the development of the United States, and great performances by the band. At the conclusion of the program a wreath was laid on the General’s tomb.
My Dad and sister were glad they had attended the ceremony.

Ern,
Your usual great photos of an event you attend. I always look forward to where you been lately. Keep 'em coming.
Almost didn't recognize you, I was looking for the handsome man in a kilt, rather than a tartan vest. Must be your Father and Sister don't know you have a kilt collection, just kidding.

Fabulous pics Ern, and it was nice to see one of you with your dad even though you were not kilted.
The gentleman wearing the tartan trews in the fifth pic perhaps bears a superficial resemblance to our own Steve Ashton
Regional Director for Scotland for Clan Cunningham International, and a Scottish Armiger.

I noticed that too... a doppelganger perhaps?
