New kilt!
(moved from a different forum)
I picked up my kilt yesterday! It's an 8 yard, 16 oz tank in MacPherson red. The wool is from Marton Mills, but I have no idea who made it, as I ordered it through a local shop. Photos are crap, though, as they were just taken with my iPhone.

Me in the kilt:

I do have a belt, but the buckle I picked up to go with it isn't compatible, so I'll have to go back. The shadow of my fiancee taking the photo blocks out the Lovat green hose. I've had them for a while, and have machine washed them in the past, so I think they've shrunk a bit or lost some elasticity. I seem to remember them going up higher, and I don't think my calves are significantly bigger than when I bought them.
I plan to get a proper jacket soon, but I want to wait until my return to exercise and proper nutrition has an effect on my body. The kilt still has lots of room to tighten, but I think jackets can be less forgiving.

Re: New kilt!
You look so very happy!
You may want to tell your fiance, one thing I have learned from this board is that when I am taking a photo of my guys in their kilts, the photos tend to turn out better if I drop to one knee and lower the camera angle by doing that. It give the pics a better scale and doesn't make the kilts look too long.

Yeah, but she had the baby in a sling, so dropping down to one knee wasn't in the plans.

Great looking tartan.
You don't need no stinking belt - the kilt straps are workin' fine.

Congratulations, and good luck with the belt and buckle.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

You may also wish to consider getting a leather sporran strap instead of the chain. Over time chains can wear the wool. I had this happen only with an acrylic kilt in which case it started pilling.

Re: New kilt!
nice tartan ... I like the sets of three thick red bands and how they intersect
(just curious, what's the shirt logo - sort of Batman but not)

Look closely, look at the black instead of the yellow, and think of it in the context of the kilt. It will come to you.
