    New Kilt and Review

As usual at the San Antonio Highland Games, my wife forced me to buy a new kilt. Since Utilikilts has quit using shops as sales points Things Celtic from Austin had to find something to replace them. They are now carrying these from The Kilted Nation. They are a cross between the UKs and a Traditional. It wraps similar to a traditional kilt and can be worn at the natural waist like a traditional. It is made of cotton twill like the UK and has cargo pockets. They are pleated in a more traditional manner and the creases are sewn down. There is no hip pocket. There are belt loops like a UK and each loop has a D ring below it. They make one version that the cargo pockets have clips rather than being sewn on and they can be place where you want them or taken off if need be. There seems to be more fabric weight than a UK and this one managed the wind yesterday better than my UK would have. Price wise it was comparable to my UK originals. The top and bottom straps on each side have a series of snaps so you can wear it as tight or as loose at waist and hips as you want.

Friday afternoon was it's first voyage out of the house. The pics are from before we headed out. The only thing I'm not totally satisfied with is the width of the cargo pocket, I have to move slow and work my hand and wallet out. Its not bad enough to be a deal breaker for me.

Nice and cool, Tony! A wife who forces you to buy a new kilt is a good wife indeed!

That's an interesting design... I like how it blends some traditional with modern features. Nice colour too!
