New Tewskbury
Just arrived--Barbara Tewksbury, 16 ounce MacQueen RP woven by Dalgliesh. Just beautiful in every way.
High rise, higher than I'm used to but perfect fit.
The colours are similar to Modern MacQueen but the "black" is really a very very dark brown and the yellow is closer to ocher, and of course the red is subdued and almost a brick.
I threw it on in a hurry, didn't even take out the basting. My sgian isn't even tucked in properly.
The shirt is not a "kilt shirt" it is a Jas. Townsend 19th century workshirt. Shoes, sporran and belt, I made (naturally).
Thinking I need to look for an additional pair of hose...maybe solid colour...and another garter, but not sure what colour.

I think a pair of chessboard-top hose would look really good with that. House of Cheviot has a brick red/loden set that would be a good match. The shirt really helps pull the look off too. I sometimes use an old muslin shirt made for civil war reenactments.

I think mustard hose would look smashing with that kilt. Keep the garters and shirt as is.
Just my opinion.

Excellent kilt. The Reproduction color scheme is a wonderful choice for predominately red tartans which might be a tad aggressive in the modern colors.

Didn't get a pleat shot as when this photo was taken (on my lunch hour) I didn't have time to take out the basting. I need three clip-style hangers before I take it out of the wrapping again.
Sorry for now.

Thanks (to everyone).
The hose were knitted by my wife (they are not Fair Isle)...
The bonnet was handmade (got it through Matt Newsome); the kilt was made by Barbara Tewksbury; the shirt by Jas. Townsend (handmade, I suspect); the vintage Blackthorn walking stick by some anonymous craftsman in Ireland-- and once upon a time (before I got it) it had a name.
I made the sgian, the shoes (the buckle is 18c. from what I've been told), the belt, and the sporran.
All in all a nice kit. I am fortunate.
