New Year's Day Loony Dook

Here in South Queensferry we have a (fairly recent) New Year's Day tradition of dooking in the Fourth. As usual, this year attracted large numbers of both locals and visitors dooking to raise money for a wide range of charities.

The town crier was in attendance:

The RNLI and locally-built traditional boats provided a safety service:

... and behind it all the iconic Fourth Bridge. We will be abseiling from it again later in the year.

It was a wee bit chilly but I was a mere spectator. The air temperature was about 4 degrees centigrade.

I would imagine the river would be a wee bit chilly even in the height of summer. I wouldn't fancy it at this time of year. Congratulations to the brave dippers!
