NYC Tartan Day Parade - 2015
I check off my Bucket List this weekend, marching with my Clan Society, MacCallum Malcolm in the NYC Tartan Day Parade.

When left Friday taking the 5 ¼ hour train ride; relieved not having to fight interstate traffic.

We had a wonderful dinner upstairs here. We knew it would be slammed on parade day.

We had a pre-parade meet up with XMAKERS, David, CTBuchanan and Alan, ASF1970 at the Perfect Pint. There was a table of Campbell ladies who kept us in stiches in having our photographs with them.

We met up at our assigned Clan assembly point and were lined up conveniently behind the Buchanan Clan and Alan in his XMTS tartan joined us to carry the Saltire. Rick and Margo the CMMS Northeast conveners got us in parade order with their grandson the sword bearer. Sharon and I got to proudly carry the Clan banner.

Before, we stepped off and asked Sharon and Alan to join me in a challenge by the KiltedKnome to be photographed with the Parade Marshall, Graham MacTavish the actor who plays Dougal MacKenzie in the Starz, Outlander. With their assistance I was able to meet the challenge.

Here are pics of the parade as it started, from our perspective and after our unit finished.

It was a perfect picture day for a parade. Here's the lovely wife and I just before the parade, seated at the corner of 45th and 6th:

And my fellow members of the St. Andrews Society City of Albany that marched:

I go to NYC for business every year for about 5 or 6 weeks and I make a point to get a meal at St. Andrews Pub & Restaurant. There is a nice selection of brews and scotches to sample.

We usually have lunch there before the parade. Fish & chips for me, with a Belhaven Red!

It was great to meet those I met. Sorry I disappeared at the end. I met up with some friends who said they were going to Connolly's. Little did I know it was a different Connolly's than my new friends from Clam Malcolm were at.

Thanks for the pictures guys, a great tribute to the strength of Scottish heritage across the pond.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
