oak glen and a new bobcat

My wife went home to Arizona for a wedding (planned) and a funeral (unplanned) so I went to Oak glen by my lonesome. I have seen a bobcat there 3 times last year and this one but never seen one at the conservancy where I hike. We ended that as a young cat was in the apple orchard. That was at the beginning of the trail so I put Grizzly back in the car and spent an hour watching and shooting him.

He (or she) flushed some quail who got above him so he wandered away. They then continued on what ever quail do

He finally killed a gopher (but I had switched the battery out so didn't a shot so it didn't happen) and wandered off into the brush. As that was where I hike I carried ole grizz until we were well past him. and then let him down to walk with me.

This is a cool tree. The wood peckers drill holes in the tree then stuff in nuts. Worms in the tree get in the nuts eat all the inside then are stuck inside. The birds then come back, retrieve the nuts open then and eat the worms. They are called larder trees.

I consider myself an outdoors-man and appreciate your photos of wild things and your treks with the Grizz. Keep up the fine work and hope the entire family has a great holiday season.

I don't know about Bobcats but I know a grizzly grows into their ears maybe Bobcats grow into their tails. He is a fairly small cat and does seem to have a big tail. This was a clear shot of it. Click image for larger version.
