Looks great. I'm taking notes...black kilt, white button-down shirt, rolled up sleeves.

Tiran, you wear a kilt well!
May I make some suggestions?
If you are wearing the kilt to a semi formal event, you look very well dressed.
If you aim to wear the kilt in a casual, everyday sort of manner - this is what I've done...
First, the belt.
When I began wearing a kilt I thought I always had to wear a big shiny buckle, and they do look good, I but not for everyday wear. I now tend to wear smaller, plainer buckles, ie. an ordinary leather belt (brown or black to match the sporran and shoes.
Next, the Sporran.
I have the luxury of several sporrans, again, very plain, no metal at all for everyday wear. Formal more formal event..add some silver (a badge etc).
A leather sporran strap to replace the chain will achieve this plus make your kilt last longer.
Of course, this all really hinges on how you want to wear your kilt. Most of us here find ourselves learning from Hamish's example, check out his extensive photo album http://albums.imff.net/hamish
Again, you do look fine in a kilt, I hope you'll wear it with pride!
