Pagan Festival
Red_Raven and I went down to the Pagan Festival in Phoenix today. I wore my Weathered MacKenzie SWK. Saw 4 other kilts. One SWK standard in Black Watch, two black Utilikilts (one on a guy, one on a girl), and an obvious homemade that someone butchered.
Red_Raven_Studios and I (trying to bear looking into the sun...)

The SWK Black Watch (which turned out to be a friend of ours who was at the festival with his/his wife's bird rehab outfit).

Here's one of the birds (a raven) they have that can't be released...

And I'd be remiss if I didn't post at least a couple of pics of the belly dancers...

As far as comments, I got a bunch of "Nice kilts", two people who wanted to know which tartan it was, one guy who wanted to tell me an awful, and possibly offensive joke, one guy recognized it as MacKenzie, but didn't recognize the weathered tartan. Then later, in a fast food joint, I was approached by a trio of late teen/early twenties guys who wanted to know where I got my kilt.

Boy, there's always 2% who never get the word. I'm Pagan and never heard of the festival...would have been fun.
And I have that Orthodox Pagan t-shirt...Guess there's always next year.
That is a sharp looking tartan too.

Looks like a fun day, and I really like the Weathered MacKenzie, very nice looking tartan you wear it well.

Was that great weather this weekend or what?
It's not often when Phoenix is cooler than Chicago, especially in October!
Looks like you had a great time.
I'm not surprised to hear that you saw several other guys in kilts. Despite our cowtown & conservative heritage, kilts seem to gaining a bit of acceptance here in the Valley of the Sun. I think it has something to do with "air-conditioning."
And yes, you look good in your weathered MacKenzie. And that's definitely the Arizona way to wear a kilt - short-sleeved shirt & sandals!

They hold it every year between August and November. The weather was great!

Yeah, I wish I'd known about it, I'd've gone down.
Chrome Scholar, you know that you're right in the neighborhood there of the Syren dance troup, right? Keep an eye out for them; they're something else to behold.
