Panache wears white hose AND flatcaps! (making white hose part of an outfit)

In a prior thread I noted that I had a reason to purchase some white/cream hose and went with a thick ecru colored wool Scottish hand knitted pair and offered up some photos of my new purchase.

    http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...te-hose-72771/

Now I put on these with the outfit I had worn to the store (trading them for my purple Lewis hose from the STM). I think they looked just fine with the outfit I had on and continued to wear them for the rest of the afternoon (In fact I feel it my duty to report that no one at the movie theater where I took my family to see "John Carter" that evening seemed at all distressed to see my outfit "ruined" by my hose selection )

I mentioned that I really thought a sweater with a similar pattern and color would look good with them. Stopping by my favorite second hand store today I found just such a sweater for a whopping $3. It isn't wool, but cotton, and I'm sure it isn't handknit. Though for three bucks I think I can live with this. Coming home I thought it would be fun to try my best to come up with a good looking highland outfit using the sweater and hose and share my results.
I went with a simple daywear outfit that I think shows them off to their best advantage. I wanted to wear my beloved bucket hat* with the ensemble but it just didn't seem to go (much to Jock's Scot's relief I'm sure). On the other hand neither did any of my Scottish bonnets. However looking at my flatcap collection yielded a likely candidate....

    Presented for your approval

This one shows off the pattern on the sweater better (Being woefully ignorant of knitting I'm not sure how to describe the pattern of hose and jumper.)

As was noted several times these handknit hose have a smaller turnover at the top which I do not mind at all (there are variations in this length among my various hose). However this smaller top doesn't work wih standard flashes, they stick out too much and the proportions just don't look right. Lucky I have a few pairs of traditional knitted garter ties from the STM and they work fine.

OK Ladies and Gentlemen of XMTS, I gave it my best shot. Have at!

    Cheers

    Jamie

Approved! I like the cable knit hose and sweater (great deal makes it all the sweeter.) I'm partial to flat caps, so no argument there. And although I'm not a smoker I even like the (look of the) pipe. And yes, I would agree, the facial hair looks great and suits you well. Geeze, sounds like should I start a fan club. :-)

Actually, I like the sweater and the hose. However, smoking the pipe will give all that wool a nice ashy smell.

I've yet to see you in any combination or wardrobe that didn't look good! How do you do it?

The sweater and hose look absolutely fantastic ... thanks for the ideas!

    Cheers!

Looks splendid to me. I think the pattern and texture of the sweater and hose helps.
    Again very nice,
