Photos from the 1980's
Back in the 1980's (when I was a lot thinner!) I owned a lot of Highland Dress stuff and I had some photos taken to show clients the different "looks" I could wear when playing at their event.
It's sort of interesting to see what's changed and what hasn't.

They didn't have the "Piper Socks" back then that gave the bulky turnover curffs, which all Pipe Bands wear now.
At that time the fairly rigid distinctions bewteen Day Dress and Evening Dress were still mostly adhered to. You can see the old-school full Day outfit with tweed jacket and co-ordinating self-coloured hose and Balmoral bonnet (ribbons in back tied of course!)
The middle photo shows the exact outfit I got married in, in 1988, save that I wore a white tie and waistcoat that day. Yes even the dirk, with which I cut the cake!

Looks pretty current to me. Which tends to imply that investing in good stuff pays off.

Wow. Great pictures, I like all 3 of those outfits!
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Nice photos. Proof once again that style is timeless, while fashion follows the wind.

None of the outfits look dated to me. The first two pics could fit right in with the 1 kilt 10 looks thread. Like the matching tie and pipe bag cover in the first one. Finally, that full mask sporran is gigantic. Looks like you could fit the kitchen sink in there. Very nice, all three.
