Piping for the Boilermaker Road Race
Our band, the Mohawk Valley Frasers, plays every year for the Boilermaker Road Race - 5K running, 15K running, and a wheelchair race - in Utica, NY. We play about 1/4 mile from the finish line to give the athletes (14,000 runners in the 15K race alone!!!) a final boost to the end of the race. The 15K race is world class. The top 10 runners are all from Africa - Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, and Morocco.
Dave put a GoPro camera on my bass drone for the race this morning. Here are a couple of photos from the GoPro! The first one is of the whole band, and the second one is of our Grade 4 competition section playing our Medley. Formal kilt outfits from the waist down, and Boilermaker t-shirts of various vintages on top.

And here's the GoPro set-up on my bass drone!

I've run a lot of races with live bands along the course, but never with pipers! That is awesome!

I had a Highland Games the same day as the Perth Ontario kilt run so missed an opportunity to pipe for the runners. Maybe next year I'll bomb over to the kilt run after the games and get in on the fun. In the mean time I need to get a Go Pro for my drones that's really cool Barb.
I'm just trying to be the person my dog thinks I am.
