Outside the Liddesdale Heritage Centre in Newcastleton this afternoon. Will it ever stop raining?
The centre tells the tale of the Elliots, a family from North-East Scotland who were granted land in Teviotdale in the Scottish Borders. Later they became one of the Border reiving families and following the Union they were persecuted and dispersed.
The centre is housed in a former church. It is not restricted to Clan Elliot history but also has displays on other more recent local history, including weaving, the railway, and the war years.
