river in Dumfries
Here is the caul below Lady Devorgilla bridge on Tues.

This is Thurs after the rain on Wed. It was down a bit from Wed night believe it or not.

The whitesands area by the river is a very pleasant place to sit and talk and enjoy the sounds of the water flowing over the caul.

Tony

If memory serves that white tower you can see in the first picture is the Camera Obscura?
It's been over 30 years but I remember visiting it and enjoying the views it produced!

Aye, that's the camera obscura alright. We got so caught up in the Burns stuff and watching the river we forgot all about it. Hmmm, another trip to plan perhaps?

A girlfriend of mine at St Andrews University lived in Lochmaben which is only a few miles from Dumfries and we spent a couple of weekends there with her parents, Naturally I was taken to see Dumfries and memories have been flooding back seeing the various pictures that folk have been sharing.
I remember going to Burns' House and also the Camera Obscura (there are others in Aberystwyth, Edinburgh and Bristol also) and thinking what a contrast the red sandstone buildings made compared with many other parts of Scotland's architecture.
Of course another trip is now necessary, not only to refresh my memory but also to see Robertson and Ferintosh and join in some kilted activities!
