Running in one of my kilts

Sorry I don't have any action shots, but I ran the Lincoln Park Zoo 5k in my kilt earlier this month:

When end you run through the water station in a kilt, they give you beer:

I know now it doesn't match the Kilt, but I had to rep my Welsh ancestry via my rugby socks:

You ran through the water station 3 times? So, the socks didn't match, who cares, it was a fun event and it looks like you had fun, that's what mattered.

Looks good to me! I'm hoping for our local Games to set up a kilted one quarter kilometer run. With a lot of training I might be able to complete it. Or, probably not.

    You guys are hilarious.

Sailor, I had a blast! My family, if I can trace us back far enough, has English, Scottish, Welsh, and Irish - or as we call the Irish, "the Welsh and Scots who could swim." Those socks really go with my "Pride of Wales" tartan and one of my rugby uniforms, but I thought they'd be fun to wear and they were. Only one child asked me why "Santa's reindeer" on them looked like a dragon.

Ricky, to semi-quote the great Ron Burgandy, "Wool was a bad idea." I have run in it before and it never ends up well. This kilt is a cheap one that I don't mind abusing, and it keeps its pleats surprisingly well under the pressure.

All in all, it was 99% positive feedback, and the one guy who was genuinely giving me a hard time at the start line didn't reach the finish line until a few minutes after me, so

    Rob

Well done Rob....Keep running in those kilts.....

My son completed the 15k Shamrock Run, kilted, this year in Portland Oregon and was rather elated about it, as seen below.....

Kilts are great for running, especially the lighter weight varieties. Have done several races - Bay to Breakers in SF and Capital 10K in Austin - good comments but never any beer.
