    Scottish Heritage Sunday

The First Sunday of February is celebrated at Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church as Scottish Heritage Sunday. A few of us wear kilts including the Pastor, the Rev. Dr. McElrath. Many of the women wear sashes or tartan scarves. We have a piper process into the service as well as recess. Here are a couple of pics. The first is of my wife and me and the second is of the Pastor and me.

Very nice. I wish we did that at my church.

Also, I'm pretty sure I played trumpet at your church for Easter Sunday of 2008.

Chaps: Your wife and you, and your pastor look capital. Absolutely capital! Thanks for posting the pics.

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

I know that there are 'guidelines' for a lot of things but I have a hard time with a church not allowing kilts. Any church should accept everyone as they are - part of 'judge not that ye be judged'. God, or whoever you think of as your Higher Power, accepts everyone as we are.

Someone in a kilt would certainly look better dressed than most of the outfits I've seen at churches in the last few years. Jeans, shorts, tops that look like bathing suits...I've seen it all.

I was stunned when we went to our grandson's baptism and we were the only ones 'dressed' for church - and of course the baby was in a gown. Three people dressed for church, the rest, including the priest looked like they were ready for a picnic in the park.

I have always had a struggle with the why behind some rules that seem so silly to me...

    My condolences, grizzbass.

Chaps, it is nice to see you with the other members of the congregation looking so sharp!
Keep spreading the word through your clergy and perhaps other churches will follow your example.

We all need hope that things will improve.
