Scottish National USA Kilts Casual
Finally getting a chance to get pics of the new kilts. This was taken at the Horseshoe Bend Overlook, Glen Canyon of the Colorado River, Arizona. Did some huffing and puffing in the heat for this shot. Its 1200 feet down. And, that's the buffalo sporran I'm really loving a LOT!!

In my opinion the kilt is eclipsed by the breath-taking scenery. I can never get enough of that stuff......

That is a pretty smart tartan. Might have to consider that one at some point.... Love the scenary. Too bad SE New Mexico is pretty much void of ANY sort of scenary.

Do they offer anything in the Scots-American tartan? Of course, wearing the Scottish National, aside from aesthetics is perfectly acceptable too...the Scots-American had a very nice sett to it though. Caledonia looks nice too... I am sure that they have that one.
That is looking pretty good there. USA kilts makes most of their line out of PV? I have yet to experience a kilt made of the stuff, but soon...
What's your opinion of the fabric? I have read much on the convenience of PV, as it is easily washed, and is very stain resistant due to teflon... which I find a rather practical move. How's the weight, pleats, and swing of the kilt? I had been browsing some of the sites, and had spent some time nosing around USAK, so I am a bit curious about them.

Hey Andrew,
I think up on the USA Kilts forum you'll find a pretty detailed description of the USA Kilts casual and fabric. Heading is about comparing SportKilts to USA Kilts fabric. Rocky also has posted some detailed fabric info.
I love it!! Have 8 causals and two on order and three semi-trads.

Andrew,
The Scottish American tartan is only made in heavyweight wool, but USAK has the Caledonia tartan in PV.
USAK's Casual and Semi-traditional kilts are made of PV. Their Premier kilt is a traditional 8-yard wool kilt. They also make 5-yard wool kilts.
I really like my (Scottish National) Casual kilt, especially for summer wear. It is lighter and cooler than wool. Little maintenance is needed. Machine wash in cold water and don't use fabric softener. If you let it hang dry, little or no ironing will be needed.
The Casual is made of about 5 yards of material, so it has noticeably less swing than a full 8-yard kilt. However, I think swing is the least important aspect of a casual kilt. Swing is more desireable with a formal kilt.
