Sidney, B.C.
My wife and I spent the weekend in Sidney, just outside Victoria, B.C. We attended the Burns Supper put on by the Greater Victoria Police Pipe Band. During the day we walked around the town. These pictures are on the fishing pier. You can see the San Juan Islands in Washington State in the background. It was our first decent weather in quite a while.

Looks like a nice day. I like that sweater!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

I miss the ocean. That first picture made me sad and happy all at the same time.
I was naer cut out to be a landlubber.

Looks like a nice day. My mother's family live on Vancouver Island, in Victoria, Cobble Hill, Sooke and Courtenay and I have fond memories of spending three and a half weeks in Victoria in 1987. Isn't Sidney the place where the airport is located?

Macman,
My wife and I are planning on doing a weekend in Victoria in April sometime (checking on a few things first). We should meet up for a couple of pints and some trad. at the Irish Times. I will keep you informed.
Great pics or both you and your lovely wife.

c152t, you are right. The airport is just across the highway before you get to the water (Patricia Bay) on the other side of the peninsula.
McMurdo, the Wizard of B.C. might have some pictures of the supper (I hope!).
Alan, I used to work on the ferry that ran from Seattle to Victoria and back each day. I never tired of the scenery on the way down Puget Sound.
Colin, the Irish Times would be great. There is a similar place (same owner) call the Penny Farthing that has entertainment as well. Let us know!
And Dread, I'm with you. I've just got to live on a coast, even if my roof feels like it's going to blow off sometimes.

I did a lot of my growing up in Aberdeen and Seattle Washington. I really miss the coast. Did time inland too, in Spokane, Wenatchee, Leavenworth, (The little Bravarian village) and other little bumps in the road places.
In Aberdeen, there was always seafood for dinner, no matter how poor we were. We dig clams, catch fish, get crabs, there was food to be had if you worked for it.

I am thinking pub crawl between the times, Penny Farthing, and the one right across from the times. I am waiting to see what Andrew (and his fiance) is scheduled for work, but the bugger has been in Thailand and Australia for the last month or two.
