    St. Andrew's weekend in Dumfries

    Hello!
I was in Dumfries this weekend staying at Robertson (Pour1malt) & Emma's Ferintosh Guest House with my girlfriend Laura. Alex (cessna152towser) was staying there too and we headed to Caerlaverock Castle on the saturday and Dumfries town centre on sunday.
There was a small pub crawl on saturday and Alex and his friend met up with us later on. On sunday we met with John (EnglishBloke) and his lovely wife, friendly(, age-misleadingly looking!) son Tom and their bonnie wee daughter Tasmin!
I don't have any group shots of any of the days as I have a bulky slr that is a hassle to carry around! Robertson and Alex will have plenty and I see John's posted some from sunday!

    Here's some pictures:

Myself and Alex at the Castle doorway:

Myseld and Laura on the second floor of the Castle, overlooking the moat:

We then headed up to the bird sancuary in what has become a bit of a swamp:

Alex was taking a picture of an interesting plant that flowers at this time of years - unlike most others:

There were little wooden planks that aided us... not enough though and we decided it would be difficult to walk up what was once a path to the sanctuary and headed back to the castle for lunch.

On sunday morning we checked out of Ferintosh and headed up to see if Burn's house was open. Sadly it's closed on sundays at this time of year but we got a few snaps along the street:

For some reason I've ended up with 0 group photos and very few shots of people. Here's some of my "amateur photography" shots - if you want to call them that. That'd probably make great desktop backgroundsin full screen view... maybe Microsoft or Apple will put in an offer for them?

Later on the sunday we headed back to Dumfries town center to watch a couple of bands and then participate in a world record attempt at ther biggest Scottish Reel. We managed 721 people - and the previous record was 1.2k! It saddened me!

John took my camera to take a few pictures but the motion setting wasnt on and they were pretty blurry as we danced around. Thanks though John
Here's a couple of action shots:

We then headed to the Coach & Horses for a quick drink and a warm up from what must have been THE coldest day this year before heading down to watch the Red Hot Chilli Pipers and the Christmas lights being switched on:

Thanks to Robertson and Emma for owning a great guest house and for paying attention to the little things that make a great weekend away... and thanks to Alex for joining us on our trip, it was good to meet you! It was great meeting you and your family John and I hope we will meet some time soon!
