A St Patricks Day Lunch
Today, my wife and I met a friend of the family for lunch at The Highland Stillhouse, in Oregon City, Oregon. We decided that since it was St Patricks Day, how better to toast it ( with Ice Tea for the three of us ) than with the best Fish n Chips in the region.
It was also, the first time I've worn anything besides a UtiliKilt in public!
Hard for a Tribal man to step out and shake up the stereotypes....
So, here I share with you a few photos from today. My wife is the lady in the gray jacket with the scarf.
BTW - Opinions are welcome on my quickly thrown together outfit. Be kind if possible Rabble.....

You look quite well turned-out, my Colquhoun cousin, and your lady in the gray jacket with the scarf is lovely. Well done!

Looks like you had a good time but then you're wearing a kilt so that is redundant

Hawk , it may have been your first time in public in a traditional kilt ... although one would never know it . You look quite comfortable and natural . Well done . Like the sporran !

Excellent photos! The The Highland Stillhouse looks like my kind of place (bar stools with back supports are always a good sign). I too am a Supreme Court Judge of Fish And Chips. Seriously, I'll get on a plane and fly up there right now.
I myself visited the Peckish Pig brew pub here in Evanston, IL for dinner on Sunday (no carousing on St. Pat's Day itself--I strapped on my Irish National Tartan kilt and trudged off to "work"). The Peckish Pig finally opened last week, and well worth the wait! The Executive Chef/Owner is an absolutely rock-solid Irishwoman named Deb (I'd marry her in a heart beat), and, Good God, can she and her crew Put The Pots On! EVERYTHING on the menu is good (hopefully the Fried Ham Hocks With Salted Caramel will actually be available when I return). Highly recommended to all X-Markers if/when you're in the Chicago area--easy to get to, a KILLER bar, live Celtic folk music several nights, and surprisingly easy on the sporran. Oh, and the Fish And Chips there are also the Real Deal.

Hi Hawk, and here's my 2 cents from "tribal" Oklahoma....
First off you look great. Well put together, and second, while your not in "tribal" native American apparel, you ARE in "tribal" gear, but just from a different region.
Here in Oklahoma, when I'm seen wearing my kilt, and approached by some one of Native American heritage, and asked "so what's with the kilt?", I simply reply,"it's a tribal thing". This (truthful) reply always get that (an you know the one) knowing nod of approval that is given by a Native American to a truthful statement, and statement of meaning. It's that quiet nod of acknowledgment, respect, and understanding......
When I wear a kilt to a casino, all the staff seem to have a grater respect for me, and a lot of kind and approving words. I'm suspect that it's because by wearing the kilt I've acknowledge MY tribal roots.... My Native American friends respect my wearing of the kilt and see it as a dedication, to my ancestors, and my pride on my heritage.....Just like their own....
So, you look great my brother, and you're still "Tribal"..
With the greatest respect

Methinks he'd have looked better turned out, had he been wearing a Clan Colquhoun kilt. Just sayin'... :buttkick:

Very nicely turned out indeed. I like the strap that you have made for your sporran, goes great with it. You entire outfit looks grand!

Tobus, thank you Cousin. I would but unfortunately I do not have one to properly represent the family yet. And there's more to that story, but that's for another day.....
