Lovely, I have fond memories of Derbyshire from the early '60's. My family would holiday around Edale and stroll those hills all day. I recall there being worn out millstones strewn everywhere?

I've done a few hikes when I've visited family there. Reminds me of the devil's den at gettsyburg

Wot no sandals, only kidding although it is rare to see you not wearing them. As always tpa, you are dressed sensibly for the occasion and carry off casual style with aplomb.

There is certainly no shortage of hills and I'm sure you will still find a few millstones around, they are not exactly easy to move. Around my area, it is more stone gate posts you will find, some even standing alone in the middle of a field and others utilised to preserve footpaths any form of vehicular traffic and/or horses.

Thanks, Nomad, sandals would have worked OK on the rocks, but not been much fun ploughing through the snow on the way up there.
