    Trying some new kit

Not only did I receive a new ex-Royal Regiment kilt recently, but I picked up a navy blue, barathea jacket and waistcoat from a friend. At first, I was not interested in this jacket but once I saw it... I couldn't stop thinking of how it could be dressed up or down (and was not the typical Black Barathea Argyll but could be worn like one). It was also a departure from my loved tweeds. Anyway, I decided to wear it all to work today. I was trying for something a bit dressier, almost morning wear. The goat sporran I have been wanting to try out since I made it so I am giving it a go; even if it is a bit too formal for the situation. I do think, however, that considering the conservative and plain outfit as a whole, the goat gives it a bit of flair and not TOTALLY OTT.

I like it a lot. Particularly enjoy you guys and your Ghillies with Tattersall or Gingham shirts. It's a look I envy and cannot pull off.
    Well done.

P.S. Impressed by your sporran. Classic and very nice.

Thank you much! The ghillies are a pair that I have had for almost 20 years and I purchased second hand in Edinburgh. They are likely 40+ years old and are very nice. I recently put in new laces (finally) but I do not care for the new laces as much as the old. I do not wear them often and tend to prefer normal brogues (and prefer browns to blacks normally).

Looks sharp indeed. Let us know how your students liked it! (do you get to kilt up for school/work often?).

Most of the students love it. This school year, I have been wearing a kilt to work, almost on a weekly basis. I even have a few other students that are now wearing kilts. Normally we do this as a "Kilted Friday," but this week we have no school with students on Friday. I have also been talking to a number of other students, as well as our exchange students, and we are going to shift this into "Cultural Friday"; including all national, traditional, folk, etc.

That`s a very good looking outfit. I have to say that I like that sporran a lot too. The jacket and vest do look like they will be quite versatile.

I like your outfit a lot. Can you tell me about the buttons on your waistcoat and jacket?

Your overall outfit is first rate . I can see why you were interested in the jacket and waistcoat , they are a natural compliment to the RR kilt . Very nice indeed .

And by the way , that goat hair sporran ( that you made ) is absolutely superb !
