Va Rennaissance Faire Pictures
It was an excellent day at The Va Renaissance Faire, warm, but not so hot that one swelters in the Va heat and humidity. After arriving at 10 am, my wife and I wandered through the "shire, taking in several performances and checking out the many merchants there. Around 2 or so, we adjourned to the tavern tent for some refreshment and to await the arrival of fellow Xmarkers for a meet up. Around 2:30, Mael Coluim arrived, and while we were talking and partaking of some fine Stout, ambjack and his family arrived. Here are a few pics from the meet up. As usual, I neglected to get pics of my wife and I together. I will post a pic or two of my wife throwing axes but I still have to upload the video clip from my Flip video camera and then capture a few stills. She has me throwing also, but I have to figure how to capture stills from her camera or post the video in its entirety..

I don't quiteunderstand the relevance to a 16th century type renaissance faire, but Ern and I spent quite a bit of time talking with this Samurai warrior. His costume, including his sword was all hand made by him, the sword done in the traditional manner . It was a beautiful weapon
I believe the Samurai,s name was Kenji or something similar.
Following our day at the Faire, Ern invited my wife and I to join him at the Fredericksburg Pub for a fine dinner and some excellent Belhaven Scottish ale.It was our first time at the Pub, but it most likely won't be our last.

Looks like everyone had a grand time.
Sorry I couldn't make it, but after spending an hour and a half in a very slowly moving parking lot called I-95, I was less than half-way to the Faire. At the rate I was going I wouldn't have made it until after the Rabble had gathered. I should have left a couple of hours earlier - perhaps I'll remember that next year.

Thanks, Jerry for posting the excellent pix. I look forward to see you and Annette throwing the axes. Ambjack hopefully will be along to post his. When I opened my sporran to pay the admission fee, I realized I had forgotten my camera!
The Faire has grown in participation! In fact, it was odd to see someone in modern attire, as most dressed for the occasion. There were many kilts, too. The folks that I met had come elsewhere in Virginia to be here.
I was quite amazed to see what some of the ladies could push up that did not pop out! I find it interesting why some of them sported fox tails. PM if you would like to know. It was a great day!
