Veterans Dress Outfit
Here's a picture of the outfit I put together for Memorial Day. However, I wound up not wearing it, because I didn't do anything official and it was just too hot.

I'm wearing my US Army tartan kilt along with my new Navy Blue Argyle jacket and waistcoat I ordered through Alexis Malcolm. I also ordered the sporran with the Army crest through her. The hat is the official AMVETS (American Veterans) cap. The medals are my modest rack from the service: Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and National Defense Service Medal (I was in during Desert Storm).
I have on a Navy tie because that's the color I had, but I'm going to get a green tie to match the background of the kilt, and the cap for that matter.

Dave,
I like the outfit. The new hat works well. Much my recent khaki outfit I posted recently a plainer sporran might be a better fit with with the rest of the ensemble next time round. The sporran in of itself is very nice though.

Great outfit and I love the AMVETS cap, it goes realy well.
I tend to agree with Jamie about the sporran, although it is a fantastic looking sporran. I think for me the crest is too big and bright for that outfit. My eyes are drawn to it. A duller crest maybe like gun metal would suit that outfit.
Of course it may just be that the camera flash caught the crest and maybe it is standing out more in the photo than it actually does.
For all my waffle, you look sharp.

Dave,
You wear it well! Very nice! Personally, I like the sporran; it offsets the darker colors in the rest of the outfit.

Dave,
You wear the Army tartan well; I really like mine too. The jacket looks great. I was in during the first Gulf War also where were you in theater, I was near Log Base Charlie and up near the so-called triangle neutral zone for most of the war. I am getting ready to retire next year it has been fun.

I passed through Log Base Charlie. Desolate. Sorry. I was further up with 24th ID.

Finn,
I almost cried when I had to take off my 24 ID patch and put on the Big Red One patch two summers ago. The last BG of 24 ID was BG Hardy, great man and it was a true honor and pleasure to serve with him.
Cheers

I had McCaffrey. Politician. My battalion commander was pathetic; the XO & S-3 ran the Bn. during the 100 hours. He had Fort Jackson and a scandal involving religion a few years ago.
I loved Dave Palmer & Shalli.

Hey, I was in the 24th ID also! Back in the early 80's. I was in the 2/35th FA BN....
Anyways, back to the topic: Dave, the outfit looks great! I recently sold my non-wool USAK Army kilt and will soon be ordering its replacement in 16 oz. wool. I like the Army accessories from Alexis Malcolm, too....

A sharp turnout Dave. Good color sense.
But ummm...why is an Army guy standing in the Halls of Montezuma?...
Okay...just a hall then....
