Walked downtown in Halifax today (maybe -5 Celcius and a bit windy) with me wife (she didn't want pics of her uploaded). Dropped in to a nice used bookstore where I saw this great book "Family names from the Island of Newfoundland" (where I was born and my mother was from and grew up). Also had some food at this Korean grill place (E-Pin) which was great.

This was around this certain corner that seems to be always windy and the chance of unexpected updraft micro-tornadoes is higher (no Marilyn Monroe moment today though).

I beamed down from the Enterprise into the restaurant ... thanks Scotty (I promised to bring back some tempura veggies)

Had a strange comment while walking down another sidewalk. These two women were standing outside a shop one said 'that has to be cold' to which I just shrugged and said 'not really' ... then she said 'there has to be some shrinkage' .... I just laughed (didn't have a proper reply for that situation). Amazing how women can get away with things whereas I would be questioned by the police for saying something similar to a woman in a dress haha

Actually, I have the PERFECT response for such a remark... Unfortunately there is just no way i could post it here in public and polite company.

What's the name of the bookstore? I'm occasionally in Halifax for business and I'm always looking for good used book stores.

Yeah , I could think of some replies latter .... I find it amazing the things women can get away with ;-)

TexasPete , that book store is called 'Dust Jacket' and its in the lower level of the Maritime Centre (Aliant building - huge bland concrete monolith at the bottom of Spring Garden Road on Barrington Street). It's a pretty good used book store ... downtown has lost two good used bookstores recently (JWD was huge and moved to Dartmouth and Back Pages closed).

Once I had a young lass ask me that question, minus the "shrinkage" part and I leaned over and stage-whispered in her ear....so that her friends could hear....

"No problem, honey. I've got a heater under there."

    True story.
