    a weekend at oak glen

My wife and I (and grizzly of course) have been going out here on sunday mornings but she hasn't taken my picture in my kilt so obviously we haven't been going. Good news for you southern Californians is the apples are starting to come on. Not the ones I like but at least the season has begun. We did pick raspberries instead which she loves.

one of the less welcoming residents. I've hiked most of my life and have only seen a handful of these guys but it's always a bit of a rush when the "rattling" begins.

That looks to be a female western diamondback. Are folks required to report them to the park officials?

Thanks again for the photos as I love the updates of your, the wife's and Grizz's adventures.

They have black bears (I've never seen them there but they leave plenty of scat). There are mountain lions, coyotes, possums, raccoons and bob cats besides rattlers. I have been going for over ten years and have seen a bobcat twice and that was my second rattler but none of the others. During the day most of them stay away from the trails. Thanks for the kind words.
