This weekend's outfit...well..one of them..
Spent the weekend at MARSCON, a scifi convention held in Williamsburg VA...as we do every year..It has become expected that I show up kilted, and with something new, and different...really I go for the attention..lol.
This kilt is basically the same print as the cloaks from Lord of the Rings, and I chose to go with a green woodsy color shirt too...this morning I wore this one with a long sleeve khaki button down..old navy working khaki shirt. The socks are just baseball socks...I sort of wish I had gone with cream wool hose and flashes to match the kilt, but I did not get around to making the flashes and ties..guess I oughta do that..
These kilts that I make are somewhere between xkilt, and Elsie and Barb's book..I just borrowed from each, but the form usually comes out more like traditional box pleats...apologies for the lousy picture quality..

I like it.
I've only worn my Kilt with "safari" shirts (the ones with epaulets)- black or khaki. I bought a belt like that, too, but it was slightly too small. Need to order a bigger one.
I also wear a cabbie/newsboy cap with it in the great outdoors.

What decorates the belt? Rivets? Sharp looking outfit you have there!

Thank you! I forgot that I had posted this..getting old I guess. The belt is like alot of my stuff, I thrift store conversion item...I like the wide belt and open buckle like that for a casual kilt..the metal bits are grommets. The sporran is a Stillwater Item. I need to pick up a black sporran from somewhere..or make one..as is my preference. I have been goofing off and playing with tablet weaving instead of finishing the kilts I am working on...guess i better get back to it..lol.
I do actually prefer this kilt with a khaki shirt..a little contrast goes a long way.

Thank you. Grommets huh? So they all have a hole in them? I kind of like the idea of rivets in a pattern like that for decoration. Hmmmm, maybe my next kilt belt...

yeas, and the buckle findings go through when the belt is fastened..I am really thinking of weaving a couple of belts..some understated twill but a couple inches wide like this..maybe when I get a little better at it. will definitely be weaving some sporran belts.
