What do you think of these?

Any thoughts on wearing the 80's vintage striped tube socks with the kilt? I've always loved the high tube socks with the stripes, and when I wanted to wear tennis shoes I thought I might give them a try. A few of my female friends really enjoyed them, but I was wondering what my kilted peers thought?

Plus if it's a good move, anyone know where you can get good tube socks?

Any good sports supply house in the US has shelves full of them - with or without team logos, but generally striped in team colors.

I don't think they look awful, but I wouldn't wear them myself.

I like the look, I was thinking of picking up a pair myself to wear with my runners.

I think the idea is a good one, the stripe imitates the foldover of a traditional style. I'd try to tie the colors into the shirt as well, rather than just the kilt though.

Inventive and cool. Keep them "high and tight" or they could look pretty sloppy though.

Looks like you are about to toss a caber or two....fine by me, although a caber might put that kilt pin right into your knee!

You would have to really be coordinate carefully. On most outfits that white would really stand out too much. Now with a white Tshirt you could make it work. As has been said, make sure the stripes match a color in the kilt.

Don't want to be the negative one, but to be blunt I don't like them, then that is just me. I hated wearing tube socks so much back then now I need to really talk myself into wearing kilt socks when required. It always seemed a bit silly to me to wear shorts when the temperature was high then wrap your legs in long socks.
If wearing sneakers I'd say just wear something like a bicycling or golf sock.

Ok, I know I'm a traditionalist - but I think this might work better with a contemporary kilt - but not so much with a tartan kilt.

This next part is just MY opinion... you might want to hike that kilt up a bit and look for a wider belt. I don't mean to sound so negative but to my eye tartan kilts look better higher (I prefer top of knee) and a wider belt seems to be the right "scale" for a manly garment like a kilt.
