Williamsburg Scottish Festival 2009 Pix
The Williamsburg Scottish Festival is my favorite in Virginia. Last year I convened my first Clan tent and I was back! Friday night there was a Ceilidh. I caught these three shows.
Coyote Run put on their best performance I had seen yet.

This was the first time I heard Alistair Fraser and Natalie Hass. I enjoyed this talented duo immensely.

Saturday Festival
Once I set my Clan tent up, I went for a quick tour of the vendors to find my required stuff lamb purchase for wife. I came across this piper practicing on the bank of the Chickahominy.

Bump into Chief Melissa of the Fredericksburg Scottish Society.

Clan Tent Visitation
Last year I had several folks stop by with maternal connections to a MacCallum or Malcolm. John MacCallum here is stationed in Fort Eustis and hails from Florida.

Mark Ellis whom I had meet at the recent Fredericksburg Welsh Festival dropped by and told me he had joined the forum!

XMark Meet Up

R to L: Narnian, Sir William, Jerry, Mael
My sister, Denise had a wedding in Baltimore Friday. On her way back home she was able to drop in.

This fellow came by hearing I needed a sheep to take home to Sharon.

I did a tour of the tents and share these with you. Maybe your clan is here.

Activities
There was always someone at the Scottish Tartans Museum tent.

House of Gordon won the best Clan tent and their women won the Haggis Hurl!

Before coming to the Festival, the suggestion was given to the conveners to use the War Cry, ‘Zachary Mor’ at the Parade of Clans at their respective festivals. Which I was pleased to do and may have been the first to do so.

Here’s the info on Zachary Mor that I received. Zachary Mor MacCallum was the 5th Laird of the MacCallum/Malcolm Clan. He was married to Jean Campbell, the Duke of Argyle's daughter. He was a noted swordsman - as our Clan histories prove out, and the histories (more than one) that relates the story of Zachary Mor meeting in single combat with Alasdair MacCholla MacDonald, a.k.a. "The Devastator," "Colkitto," and "The Red Handed Horse Knight."
It was a great day!

Good to see you're keeping busy back in the US Ern!
Great pics... looks like very varied set of events.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.
