    Would like your comments

I have been wearing a kilt pretty much full time since August. I would appreciate your comments (positve or negative) on the picture below. I'm 59 and a fairly large guy - 6'0" and 253 pounds.

The kilt is a SportKilt in the Stewart Black tartan. I wear my kilts at or just above the navel. As far as length, I prefer it to the top of the knee or slightly above the top of the knee. I have on a black sweatshirt with a red polo underneath. The hose and shoes are black. The kilt pin is a sword with thistle.

I have a sporran on order which is due to arrive next Tuesday. Sorry the picture quality is not better.

Looks fine to me, Darrell: I would suggest adding a "bunnet", but I'm inclined to protect my baldspot and think most folks look better with a hat of some sort.

Bryan...then again, at six foot/250lbs, who is going to tell you that they don't like your look, eh?...

Looks good. I like to see the kilt worked into an everyday wardrobe. It shows the versatility and timelessness of the kilt.

PS. What sporran are you waiting on?

I think you look great. Now how about adding some red flashes to those socks! It'll add a nice splash of bright color in that dark see of black from the knees down and it'll be a nice reference back up to that red polo.

    SMILE!

Otherwise, it looks good. It'll look even better when you add the sporran.

The outfit looks great, Darrell. I agree with Glassman. Add some red flashes.

What sort of sporran are you getting?

Thanks for all your comments. I do need to get some flashes. I agree, some red ones would really add some extra flare to offset all that black. I do need to smile more, but I'm in quite a bit of pain these days with several herniated discs and damage to my nervous system.

The sporran I have ordered is from SportKilt. It's what they call their "Silver with Tassels." It's black leather with a silver cantle, and three, silver-topped tassels. It's more of a dress sporran, but I thought it would also look good with casual wear - more of a dress casual if there is such a thing.

I also have a pair of red hose that I thought would go nice with this combination with some black flashes added.

Is it just me, or does everyone start taking more pride in their appearance when they are kilted? I know I've become very concious about color combinations, and wanting to look good even when dressed casually.

Note - I now have 10 SportKilts. They are: solid khaki, solid gun metal grey, All Irish Green, Amstrong, Irisher (a kelly green and cobalt blue combo), USA tartan, Saint Patricks, MacLaren Ancient, Stewart Black, and Black Watch. All have belt loops and sewn down pleats. Not bad for the money, and gives me a lot of variety on a limited income due to my disability. Obviously I'm addicted, and love wearing them.
