WW I Picture
This is in an old book of my Grandfather's, published about 1920. The book is entitled "The People's War Book and Atlas". I don't know whether it is a training shot or actual battle photo. Thought it interesting, anyway.

I have never seen a picture like that before.

A terrifying picture for sure, but one can easily see why the Maxim gun and barbed wire caused such havoc,

It is a very interesting picture. Looking at the expressions on their faces which weren't that grim and since the photographer is out front looking back I am inclined to think it is a training picture. Still a wonderful picture.

Really interesting photo. Good to see kilt "in action".

With the camera man in front, I'm sure it was staged, or just drills. Most of the so called "in action" photos from the Great War were all taken behind the lines during practice drills (note that I said most, not all).

It really is a great photo, though as others have said it looks staged. Thanks for posting it, I've copied it to my Vintage library and will add it to the Vintage Kilt thread.
