The X Kilt tours Death Valley

I took about a schblubtillion pictures, so I'll spare you the volume and just hit ya with a few of the prettier ones, esp. those with kilts in them.

OK, no kilt, but this is probably the most recognizable point in Death Valley....Badwater. The wind was blowing at least 40 mph, I put on shorts that morning. That's the Luminous Joan, of course, and that white stuff we're standing on????? It's salt. About 3-4 square MILES of it..

This little fella made a fine sight, the next day at the mouth of Darwin Falls Canyon...

Enter in Darwin Falls Canyon, which looks like this....with no hint of what you will find inside.

Darwin Falls, which is in the Death Valley National Park, but not in the Valley, itself.

Camo X-Kilt tours Darwin Falls Canyon....

Joan spotted a little slot canyon as we hiked up the 4WD road from the Darwin Falls parking area, so we checked it out. The slot led to a wash, which lead to this lovely un-named canyon. Here's the view out the canyon mouth. The ravine in the picture is Darwin Falls Canyon.

Two days later, Joan and I hiked up the Wildrose Mountain trail.

Go over that mountain and down about 11,500 feet and you're in Badwater, again....

Nice pics Alan...despite not being kilted in all of them. I've heard of Darwin Falls but never made it to that part of the park. It looks a lot bigger than I had heard it described. Maybe next time I'm in SoCal I'll have time to check it out.
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.

The canyon is really nice...highly recommended. Also we saw at least 6 new species of wildflowers, and I photographed 5 different lizard species.

Sounds like a good outing. This is a good time of year for the trip too. When I lived in San Diego we went out there a few times, but we always went to the south end of the park on our way to Vegas. Not as much over there as there is toward the northwest.

    I love Death Valley!
We used to go every April when I lived in Nevada.
There are so many things to see but such distance between them. We always camped it the middle and took road trips all week. I miss lizards too.

Nice camo. You're blending in with the terrain, except for the t-shirt!
