    Your first kilt!

Come on lads, your best picture of you the first time you wore a kilt, or the first kilt you owned or anything along those lines.

Last night I was going through some old photos at my parents house and found my cousins wedding photos where I was the page boy. This was the first time I wore a kilt, and the only time till my own wedding!
Here is the photo of me and my sister.

Also, if anyone could identify the tartan for me, I'd appreciate the help. To me it looks like a small sett black watch course, but the only examples I can find have a red stripe on both the blue and green stripes

    That's just adorable!

The tartan looks like Campbell to me. - or maybe Fraser.... hard to tell for sure with that shot. But I'm sure not anything like a tartan authority. Maybe Matt will chime in?

Do you still have the kilt?

That kilt is somewhere in the loft at my parents house. It was made by my aunt, so I would like, firstly to see it, and secondly, keep it for future generations!

I know it's not usual to quote oneself!

Having got the scanning bug after doing the Major General in another thread I decided to dig out my first kilted picture and scan it. The original is somewhat faded and I have tried to tart it up and improve it and here is the result.

As I remember it was taken in Harrogate in the early 1980s. I still have the Hunting Stewart kilt (given to me by a friend) but it's the one that the moths got at later so I don't count it as part of my kollection. I still have and use the sporran and belt though! The flashes were bought in a Scouting supply shop and given extra elastic as my legs were somewhat wider than your average Cub Scout! The hose was bought in Dundee.

And an attempt at a more detailed view. How the years can ravage one's hair!

Nice Photo, I wish my first kilt wearing photos were still around. They were lost in a flood many long years ago.

Photo's a little dark, but it looks like Morrison green to me.

To think of the hours I've spent in the past with Tartan Ferret and Google, trying as many descriptive terms for the tartan I could find! Never again, when Matt Newsome gets it on the first try!

If not the first pic, certainly almost the first pic. Had just received a SportKilt "pleated to the gather" in a too long length. Wore it to a two day conference down in Flagstaff where I rendezvoused with a lovely lady who was also attending the conference.

She snapped this pic somewhere during the weekend.

Conferences are much more endurable in a kilt.
